Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) are joining forces to create around 10 logistics parks along the SP Ring Road in an effort to address pollution and ease traffic congestion in the city. This initiative follows a comprehensive survey conducted under AMC’s Clean Air Project, revealing that more than 350 trucks enter the city daily during peak hours around the Jamalpur APMC market area. This truck influx not only causes traffic congestion but also contributes to elevated levels of air pollution.
With a vision for a cleaner and more efficient city, the civic body has allocated funds in its 2024-25 budget to establish logistics parks on strategically located plots along the SP Ring Road. These parks will specifically cater to heavy commercial vehicles, such as trucks transporting goods into the city.
AMC and Auda are actively searching for suitable plots to implement these logistics parks as part of their plan. The goal is for larger vehicles to unload cargo at these designated sites, allowing smaller vehicles to handle the transportation of goods within the city. This innovative approach aims to alleviate traffic congestion and control air pollution, aligning with the city’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
