The 2000 Tonnes of Steel used in Kanpur Metro, inaugurated by Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was supplied by Jindal Stainless. The Prime Minister inspected the project and took a Metro ride from the IIT Metro station to Geeta Nagar on 28th December 2021. High quality stainless steel was supplied to Alstom by Jindal Stainless. The project scope includes design and development of 201 coaches. The steel required by each coach is approximately 9-10 tonnes of stainless steel. Previously Jindal Stainless has supplied steel to metro projects in Sydney and Queensland apart from Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai Metro Projects.
