A growing concern about global warming and climate change seeks ways to reduce environmental impact by promoting green buildings across the world. The purpose of Green building refers to saving resources to the maximum extent, including energy saving during the whole life cycle of the building, protecting the environment and reducing pollution. This is becoming an emerging adoption method to have a sustainable building. The main objective of a Green building is to reduce the effect of CO2 caused to the environment and to reduce the usage of non-renewable resources.

The usage of steel in buildings, construction and infrastructure in India is growing at a phenomenal rate. Steel structures are highly cost effective and have a shorter lead time for erection as well as greater durability with high design comfort. Today’s demand for flexible and economic production of steel structures plays a vital role in the building, construction and infrastructure sectors. The average share of the construction sector in global steel consumption at around 50-55 percent. Some advantages of steel include strength, energy efficiency, design flexibility, fire resistance, ease and speed of assembly, material cost advantage, less deterioration over time, less maintenance, high-quality homes, better resale value, a cleaner work site with less wastage and eco-friendliness.

JSP Initiative For Promotion Of Green Buildings
Jindal Steel and Power (JSP) always takes the lead in protecting the environment by supplying Green steel to various Steel based buildings in India and is certified by CII – Green Products for our Structural Steel Products.

Jindal Steel and Power pioneered the production of hot rolled parallel flange beams, columns and sheet piles in India, which are extensively used in building, construction and infrastructure. JSP offers customers a wide range of products as per national and international standards, which are available in different unit weights with superior strength, higher axial and bending load-bearing capacities.

Objective
JSP supplied 4000 MT Steel in E450BR grade for the commercial office building of M/s. Menakshi Eco Park, Hyderabad. The project was designed in E450-grade structural rolled sections. The usage of this grade of steel ensures an overall reduction of steel consumption by 30 percent and savings by 23 percent as compared to the conventional use of 250 grade.
